I'm a little annoyed...Maybe it's just me but is there some sort of incredible hypocrisy going on? In the many weeks before, we've seen nominees after nominees get ripped up, shredded, and heavily analyzed by the media...and when I say the media, I mean our journalists out there doing the work that many of us DON'T do. Yet, I'm a little taken back by all of this back patting when it comes to VP nominee for the GOP, Palin.

Why do you think some of the people in this nation want the media to leave Palin alone and why is there such a strict lock down on viewing her negotiations with other persons etc? I don't like it. It's okay to rip Senator Clinton on her speeches and what she says as well as her dress suits, Obama on his previous pastor problem and his "rhetoric", and McCain on his ability to accurately to understand what certain things are..such as a "Surge" or more importantly our economy in the US, or rip on what Joe Biden has said in the past and how he has "flip flopped" on his previous positions as a former Presidential Candidate.

So why are we being so kind to Mrs. Palin, who came into this race very late, who has not really demonstrated any real ability to HANDLE the pressing questions coming from the media nor the ability to make a rebuttal towards her previous statements, who is meeting with these world leaders without any media to cover what they are saying (because you know...If we are to be allies, secrets cannot be made between anyone, including persons who will be the one "speaking" for every US citizen), amongst other things. Why is the public acting chivalrous towards them, especially conservative people?

Or maybe it's just me. Maybe I am not paying enough attention to the news or maybe I'm not watching the right channels, or maybe I'm not reading the right material. I don't know. School me a bit without trying inject party statements like "Democrats this" and "Republicans that".

Palin couldn't withstand the media spotlight because it showed the cracks in her armor regarding her lack of experience and questionable abuses of power.

Her lack of basic knowledge has wrecked the Replicans (sic) hopes too, thankfully.

But I think one of the main reasons she has been kept away from the media is because she makes such hilarious mistakes when she is interviewed.

must be done to stop Obama's reckless foreign policy, before he does the
dirty on his allies on every issue."

One of the most poorly kept secrets in Washington is President Obama's
animosity toward Great Britain, presumably because of what he regards as its
sins while ruling Kenya (1895-1963).

One of Barack Hussein Obama's first acts as president was to return to
Britain a bust of Winston Churchill that had graced the Oval Office since
9/11. He followed this up by denying Prime Minister Gordon Brown, on his
first state visit, the usual joint press conference with flags.

The president was "too tired" to grant the leader of America's closest
ally a proper welcome, his aides told British journalists.

Mr. Obama followed this up with cheesy gifts for Mr. Brown and the Queen.
Columnist Ian Martin described his behavior as "rudeness personified."
There was more rudeness in store for Mr. Brown at the opening session of
the United Nations in September.

"The prime minister was forced to dash through the kitchens of the UN in
New York to secure five minutes of face time with President Obama after five
requests for a sit down meeting were rejected by the White House," said
London Telegraph columnist David Hughes. Mr. Obama's "churlishness is
unforgivable," Mr. Hughes said.

The administration went beyond snubs and slights last week (3/02) when
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton endorsed the demand of Argentine
President Cristina Kirchner, a Hugh Chavez ally, for mediation of
Argentina's specious claim to the Falkland Islands, a British dependency
since 1833.

The people who live in the Falklands, who speak English, want nothing to
do with Argentina. When, in 1982, an earlier Argentine dictatorship tried
to seize the Falklands by force, the British -- with strong support from
President Ronald Reagan -- expelled them.

"It is truly shocking that Barack Obama has decided to disregard our
shared history," wrote Telegraph columnist Toby Young. "Does Britain's
friendship really mean so little to him?"

One could ask, does the friendship of anyone in the entire world mean
anything to him?

"I recently asked several senior administration officials, separately, to
name a foreign leader with whom Barack Obama has forged a strong personal
relationship during his first year in office," wrote Jackson Diehl, deputy
editorial page editor of the Washington Post, on Monday (3/08). "A lot of
hemming and hawing ensued."

One official named French President Nicolas Sarkozy, but his contempt for
Mr. Obama is an open secret. Another named German Chancellor Angela
Merkel. But, said Mr. Diehl, "Merkel too has been conspicuously cool toward
Obama."

Mr. Obama certainly doesn't care about the Poles and Czechs, whom he has
betrayed on missile defense. Honduras and Israel also can attest that he's
been an unreliable ally and an unfaithful friend. Ironically, our relations
with both Israel and the Palestinian Authority have never been worse.

Russia has offered nothing in exchange for Mr. Obama's abandonment of
missile defense. Russia and China won't support serious sanctions on Iran.
Syria's support for terrorism has not diminished despite efforts to
normalize diplomatic relations. The reclusive military dictatorship that
runs Burma has responded to our efforts at "engagement" by deepening its
ties to North Korea.

And the Chinese make little effort to disguise their contempt for him.

For the first time in a long time, the President of the United States is
not trusted by our allies or feared by our adversaries, and is respected by
neither. Americans, understandably focused on the dismal economy and Mr.
Obama's efforts to nationalize health care, have yet to notice. They will.

As a Brit, I was totally unaware of these inexcusable actions from Obama. We Brits are stereotypically obsessed with manners, etiquette and decorum, and (if they are true) Obama's actions towards Gordon Brown are just rude, and totally unbecoming for such an important diplomatic figure.
However, I don't think it would be fair to blame him for the undeniable animosity between the US and other countries. There has been a lot of mutual suspicion, distrust or flat-out hatred between the US and certain parts of 'the rest of the world' for a long time, and it is not necessarily Obama's job to make new friends overseas.

Despite his campaign promise to "make White House communications public," the Obama administration again is blocking the public from seeing White House visitor logs, this time refusing to disclose meetings with health care executives. Tonight, less than an hour before his news conference on health care, he released some of the information only after a nonprofit group filed a federal lawsuit.

The nonprofit group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said it was filing suit Wednesday afternoon against the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Secret Service, after a request for the visitor logs was denied.

Within hours after the group announced it was filing suit, the White House relented, in part, saying it would voluntarily release the names and dates of visits. That is less information than is contained in the White House visitor logs, which would also show which White House employee requested the meeting, how long the person was at the White House, and other details. Despite the voluntary release, the Obama White House is still taking the same legal position as the Bush White House, arguing that release of the information is not required. A federal judge has twice rejected those arguments.

MSNBC constantly harps upon how the Obama White House is following in the footsteps of the Bush administration.
Meanwhile, it artfully ignores the most obvious parallel – how the Hillary ‘Healthcare Task Force’ fought tooth and nail against releasing any and all records of its meetings back during the Clinton Administration.

A position that eventually led to a successful law suit from the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, among others.

… In 1993, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, along with several other groups, filed a lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and Donna Shalala‎ over closed-door meetings related to the health care plan. The AAPS sued to gain access to the list of members of the task force. Judge Royce C. Lamberth found in favor of the plaintiffs and awarded $285,864 to the AAPS for legal costs; Lamberth also harshly criticized the Clinton administration and Clinton aide Ira Magaziner in his ruling.
